Revised Scoring System for BVR Championship

• Following a review of the current scoring system, a revised system is to be implemented with effect from the Spring & Summer 2009 Championship.
• There will still be 7 scoring events plus the 12 Minute Test.For each event, the winner will get 15 points, the second 14 points, etc. In recent history, there have never been more than 15 competitors (same sex) in one event. Age-related points will also be awarded on the same points’ basis. If more than 15 did enter, the points would start at number of entrants for the winner.
• Personal Bests will be awarded against last year’s race in the equivalent season, providing the course has not been altered. 20 points will be awarded for a Personal Best or 10 points if you achieve a Personal Best based on your age-related percentage.
• Personal Bests can be achieved in any event, again providing the course has not been altered.
• The content and marking of the 12 Minute Test will remain unchanged with the following scoring differences. A Personal Best will be achieved against the previous Test from 6 months’ ago. Therefore, you cannot achieve a PB if you did not do the last Test. Personal Best points for each of the 5 elements of the Test will be 10 for achieving a PB and 5 for matching it.
• In summary, there will be 7 counting events at a maximum of 50 points per event, making a total of 350 points. The 12 Minute Test will be a maximum of 25 points times 5 elements making a total of 125 points. The total points available are 475, making the Test just over a quarter of the points available.
